Why is there frost or ice on my aluminum commercial entrance?
Frost or ice on the inside of your aluminum commercial entrance is usually caused by extremely cold exterior temperatures combined with warm and humid air inside your building. Because most aluminum storefronts are not thermally broken (insulated), the cold from outside can transfer to the inside of the storefront, causing frost to form.
You can address this issue in several ways:
- Decrease your building’s humidity to prevent condensation.
- Increase airflow over the storefront's interior by opening vents, removing obstructions, or using fans.
- Replace weatherstripping to stop the infiltration of cold air from outside.
