Why is there frost/ice on my aluminum commercial entrance?

Accumulating frost or ice on the inside of your aluminum commercial entrance is usually caused by extremely cold exterior temperatures combined with warm and humid air inside your building. Because most aluminum storefronts are not thermally broken (insulated), the cold from outside can transfer to the inside of the storefront, causing frost to form.

You can help address this issue in several ways:

  • Decrease the humidity in your building to prevent condensation.
  • Increase airflow over the storefront's interior by opening vents, removing obstructions, or using fans.
  • Replace weatherstripping to help stop the infiltration of the cold air from outside.
